Selank
In plain language
Selank is a Russian nootropic peptide (tuftsin analog), registered as anxiolytic. No dependence or sedation.
For researchers
Selank is a synthetic 7-amino acid nootropic peptide developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Institute of Pharmacology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the 1990s. The structure is tuftsin (TKPR) with an additional stabilizing sequence (PGP) extending half-life. In Russia it is registered as Selank nasal spray (anxiolytic) since 2009. The mechanism involves modulation of GABA-ergic, serotonergic and enkephalin systems without causing sedation or dependence. Published studies document potential in generalized anxiety, cognitive function improvement, immunomodulation and antiviral effects (shown in vitro against influenza). Half-life via intranasal administration ~30-60 minutes. Storage: -20°C lyophilized; reconstituted — 14 days at 2-8°C.
